ICSE researchers are working to improve combustion efficiency and develop viable control strategies of combustion-generated pollutants from boilers. We currently have a number of projects that look at combustion efficiency, NO_x reduction, aerosol emissions, additives, oxy-fuel combustion and cofiring biomass with coal . ICSE is working closely with industry on many of these projects. Our laboratory furnaces range from a 100,000 - 5 million BTU/hr furnace and are capable of burning natural gas, pulverized coal, and biomass.
