Dr. Dunxi Yu is currently working on the effects of flue gas recirculation (FGR) on ash chemistry under oxy-coal combustion conditions. The expected results will provide an in-depth understanding of both boiler slagging and boiler fouling, which are critical to the design and scale-up of oxy-firing systems, and the determination of locations from which to recycle flue gas. Dr. Dunxi Yu's research interests also include: 1) formation and properties of aerosols from combustion processes; 2) characterization of mineral matter in solid fuels; 3) char structure and its influence on combustion reactivity.
